29 Jun 432: Disc Assembly Linear static stress, fatigue and modal analysis of a disc assembly, with non linear surface contact. For the stress analysis, the disc was subject to a centrifugal load of 1,200RPM. The design passed all acceptance criteria, as the Factor of Safety was above 1.5, the first natural frequency was above 20Hz, and it was deemed the assembly components have an infinite fatigue life. 29 Jun 433: Container Lid Static Stress analysis with non-linear contact and fatigue analysis of a container lid. The model was subject to a vacuum pressure. Solid elements were used to represent the geometry. For the fatigue analysis, a strain based approach was used. For the stress analysis, all components passed the acceptance criteria, and the component evaluated in the fatigue analysis was found to have an infinite life. Posted at 11:03h in Read More
29 Jun 184: Storage Tank Linear static stress and modal analysis of a storage tank design. For the stress analysis, multiple load cases were analysed, taking into account transport loads, hydrostatic pressures, wind loads and installation loads. The design passed the acceptance criteria for all load cases, and the first natural frequency was reported from the modal analysis. Posted at 11:03h in Read More
29 Jun 183: Air Skid Design Linear static stress and modal analysis of an air skid design. For the stress analysis, multiple load cases were analysed, taking into account transport loads, wind loads and installation loads. The design passed the acceptance criteria for all load cases, and the first natural frequency was above the minimum required from the modal analysis. Posted at 11:02h in Read More
29 Jun 436: Tram Support Structure Linear static stress analysis, including non linear surface contacts, of a tram support structure. Although when first analysing the model it did not meet the acceptance criteria, when the welds in the assembly were included in detail and the mesh was refined, the design was deemed acceptable. 29 Jun 443: Radar Chair Linear Static Stress analysis of a radar chair for a motor yacht. In total 11 load cases were analysed, with different load configurations, including wind loads. Plate elements were used to represent the geometry of the radar chair. In load cases in which the model did not meet the acceptance criteria, recommendations were made in order to improve the design.
