Static stress analysis with non-linear contact of a stemhead fitting for a yacht. 4 load cases were analysed with different operating loads considered, such as the loads due to a dropped anchor. The factor of safety for all components was reported, and where appropriate, recommendations were given on how to strengthen the design.
Non-linear static stress analysis of a ball valve design, using non-linear surface contact and a non-linear material model. Bolt pretensions were also included in the analysis, to accurately represent the stresses in the assembly. The model passed the acceptance criteria, confirming HISC will no occur.
Linear elastic stress analysis of a motor housing component, subjected to the moments from motor operation and gearing forces. The design’s suitability was confirmed as the model passed the acceptance criteria without any modifications being required.
Static stress including non-linear contact, linear buckling and modal analysis of a vacuum chamber assembly. For the stress analysis, 3 different load cases were analysed, with 2 different load cases applying various pressures, and 1 evaluating stresses due to lifting. The stresses in all load cases were reported and the buckling load multiplier.
Complex beam and plate element model of crane subjected to modal analysis, seismic and static loads, analysed for various configurations (crab and carriage positions, masses). Iterative optimisation of the structural sections performed. Project included analysis of rail support beams.
