29 Jun 480: Door Safety Valve Linear static stress and fatigue analysis of a door safety valve. The safety valve was subject to several load cases, each representing a different operating condition, such as abuse of the door handle. The approach used for the fatigue analysis was a strain based fatigue analysis. Factor of safety results and fatigue results were reported. Posted at 10:53h in Read More
29 Jun 481: Truck Position Valve Linear static stress analysis of a truck position valve. The safety valve was subject to several load cases, each representing a different operating condition, such as a burst pressure supply. The stress was below yield in all but one load case, and in this case recommendations were given on how to improve the design. Posted at 10:52h in Read More
29 Jun 485: Helix Coupling Linear static stress and fatigue analysis of a helix coupling assembly, with non-linear contact. 2 designs were analysed of the assembly, with differing amount of teeth in contact with each side of the coupling. For the fatigue analysis, a strain based approach was used. For the stress analysis, the minimum factor of safety was reported, and recommendations were made on how to improve the design. For the fatigue analysis, the fatigue life of each component was reported. Posted at 10:51h in Read More
29 Jun 488: Pedestal Modal, shock and linear static analysis of a pedestal design. The shock and static stress analysis were completed with a load case evaluating the stresses in the model from a shock or acceleration in three directions. Although the model passed the acceptance criteria for all analyses, it was advised that the dynamic analyses (the shock analyses) were the most accurate results. Posted at 10:51h in Read More
29 Jun 489: Mounting Bracket Linear static stress, modal, drop and response spectrum analysis (RSA) of a mounting bracket for a fan. The stress analysis was performed in two load cases with the bracket either mounted on the wall or ceiling. The drop test analysis was performed three times with the bracket being dropped at different orientations. For the Stress analyses and RSA, the stresses were found to be low in the design. The modal analysis found that the first natural frequency was much higher than the operational speed of the fan, meaning resonance would not be an issue. Posted at 10:50h in Read More
29 Jun 497: Boiler for Industrial Heating Various sections of a modular industrial boiler have been analysed due to heat transfer, thermal expansion and internal pressure. The FEA replicated problems known from field trials. To investigate the effects of possible modifications, intensive CFD analyses have been performed subsequently. Posted at 10:50h in Read More
29 Jun 498: Isolator Steady state heat transfer analysis of an isolator design. Two load cases were analysed, with convection either being omitted or included. The temperatures of all individual parts were reported showing the areas of the assembly with the maximum temperatures. Posted at 10:49h in Read More
29 Jun 500: Isolator Assembly Steady state heat transfer analysis of an isolator assembly. The model was subject to a heat generation from a microwave absorber. The temperatures of the assembly with the location of the highest temperature were being reported. For this analysis, convection was not considered. Posted at 10:49h in Read More
