I worked alongside FEA Solutions on a nuclear waste container used to lift contaminated items. The container had to withstand impacts if it were inadvertently dropped. FEA Solutions carried out a dynamic simulation to prove the design concept which was later tested as a scale model. The results of the simulation and tests were very similar which gave considerable confidence that the design was effective. I was impressed by the correlation between the simulation and test results, but also by the contribution of FEA Solutions to the realisation of a workable design.
