Non-Linear Behaviour

Numerical simulation, including FEA, is well suited to realistically predict non-linear behaviour of physical phenomena. Looking just at structural analysis, there are three different types of non-linear behaviour. They are:

Non-Linear Material
This has to be considered if the material doesn’t behave linear-elastically. Read more about these materials in our blog https://fea-solutions.co.uk/non-linear-material/.

Large Deformation
If this so-called geometric non-linearity is included, the equilibrium of forces and moments are established on the deformed structure. Read more in our blog https://fea-solutions.co.uk/large-deformation/.

Non-Linear Contact
This type of non-linearity is typically applied when parts are joined by bolts or rivets. More details will be provided in our blog https://fea-solutions.co.uk/non-linear-contact/.
